Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964 and/or the California Fair Employment and Housing Act prohibit workplace discrimination based on an employee’s national origin, race, color, ancestry, and/or ethnicity. This prohibition not only prohibits discrimination based on actual national origin, race, color, ancestry, and/or ethnicity, but also discrimination based on perception of national origin, race, color, ancestry, and/or ethnicity, and discrimination based on association with persons of a certain national origin, race, color, ancestry, and/or ethnicity.
